Fixtureless sensors are not used to control light fixtures but collect data for Enlighted applications, such as Where for indoor location and mapping for asset tracking. They provide increased sensor density in a facility, collecting data, and improving location-based accuracy.
Any Gen 5 (SU-5), 8-pin, sensor can be made fixtureless (FL) using an appropriate cable. This article describes how to connect the Micro sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5E) sensor to function as a fixtureless sensor.
- Micro Sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5E)
- High Bay Sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5S) - Only for old or existing designs.
- Ruggedized Sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5S-xxx) - Only for old or existing designs.
Note: The preferred solution for the High Bay Sensor, and Ruggedized Sensor (SU-5S), is to use the 2-wire Fixtureless sensors. A special version of the 2-wire (SU-5S) High Bay and Ruggedized sensor is available with the product code suffix -FL (fixture-less). The reasons include lower cost and simpler installation since there is no adapter cable to purchase or install and no possibility of reverse polarity wiring errors to the sensor. Please refer to the Gen 5, 2-wire, Gen 5, 2-wire, Install Solutions for Fixtureless Sensors.
Micro Sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5E)
Up to 15 Micro sensors, 8-pin, can be connected to a Power Pack or Enlighted Power Supply. Each sensor will require the following sensor cable.
- 30-inch Power Cable, (CBL-5E-PWR-30N): 12-02769-01, or
- 30-inch Profile 0 Driver cable, (CBL-5E-5W-30N): 12-02680-01 (optional, not recommended)
Power Cable (CBL-5E-PWR-30N)
Use the power cable for sensors placed in the ceiling and not connected to a fixture (Fixtureless sensors) used for Enlighted applications such as Where. You can connect up to 15 Micro sensors, 8-pin, (SU-5E), with this cable to a DALI PSU. Refer to the line diagram: SU-5E Sensor Grid with DALI PSU (03178-01).
Note that this cable is polarity sensitive; sensors will not work unless all +/-ve connections are correct. The power supply's positive terminal must connect to the Red wire, and the negative to the Black wire.
Each SU-5E sensor will require one sensor cable (CBL-5E-PWR-30N). A maximum of 500' of the cable may be connected to a single power supply using 18 AWG wire.
- 30-inch Power Cable, (CBL-5E-PWR-30N): 12-02769-01

Refer to the following Sensor Grid line diagrams:
30-inch Profile 0 Driver cable, (CBL-5E-5W-30N)
Note: Obsolete and not a recommended solution, as only two of the five wires, are used by the Fixtureless sensors.
Up to 20 Micro sensors, 8-pin, can be connected to a Power Pack or Enlighted Power Supply. Each sensor will require the following sensor cable. The Pig-tail wires connect to the IoT-ready Profile 0 Driver, and the 8-pin Molex connects to the Micro sensor, 8-pin.

High Bay Sensor, 8-pin, (SU-5S)
Note: The description below is applicable only for old or existing designs. For new designs, Enlighted recommends using the 2-wire, Fixtureless, High Bay sensor (SU-5S-2W-H-FL). Refer to the article 2-wire, Install Solutions for Fixtureless Sensors.
The High Bay Sensor (SU-5S), 8-pin, can be used as a fixtureless sensor. Each sensor can be connected to a BZ-50 Power Pack with the following cables:
- 7-foot Profile 0 Driver cable, (CBL-RJ45-5W-7F): 12-02681-01
- 22-inch Profile 0 Driver cable, (CBL-RJ45-4W-22N): 12-02917-01
The Pig-tail wires of these cables connect to the IoT Ready Profile 0 driver, and the RJ-45 connector on the other end of the cable connects to the High Bay sensor, 8-pin.

Note: The description below is applicable only for old or existing designs. For new designs, Enlighted recommends using the 2-wire, Fixtureless, Ruggedized sensor (SU-5S-2W-xRx-FL). Refer to the article 2-wire, Install Solutions for Fixtureless Sensors.
For Ruggedized sensors, 8-pin, each sensor can be connected to a Power Pack with the following cables:
- 7-foot Profile 0 Driver cable, (CBL-RJ45-5W-7F): 12-02681-01 with a female RJ45 coupler (CPL-RJ45).
This cable's pig-tail wires connect to the IoT Ready Profile 0 driver, and the RJ-45 connector on the other end connects to the Ruggedized sensor with an RJ45 Coupler (CPL-RJ45).
