Manage is constantly evaluating license compliance based on active licenses and the system configuration. The following table outlines how compliance is determined for each licenses type:

License TypeLicense Product CodePrerequisiteCompliance Rules
IoT Sensor LicenseEM-CL2IoT-SUN/AQuantity of license is greater than the quantity of commissioned 5th gen or newer sensors
BACnet Base LicenseBAC-BS-SUActive sensor license type tier is Connected Lighting or IoTQuantity of license is greater than the quantity of commissioned 5th gen or newer sensors
BACnet Group Point LicenseBAC-GP-AREAActive sensor license type tier is Connected Lighting or IoTQuantity of license is greater than the quantity of areas multiplied by number of group points enabled
BACnet Individual Point LicenseBAC-SP-SUActive sensor license type tier is Connected Lighting or IoTQuantity of license is greater than the quantity of commissioned 5th gen or newer sensors multiplied by number of individual points enabled
Real-time Area Occupancy API EM-API-OCC/01/02/03Active sensor license type tier is IoTActive quantity of license is greater than the quantity of areas with 'Zone Sensor' enabled
Real-time Desk Occupancy API Active quantity of license is greater than the quantity of sensors with a fixture type of 'Desk Sensor'
Fine-grain Motion API Active quantity of license is greater than the quantity of sensors with 'Motion API' enabled

When you take any of the following actions based on the appropriate license type and quantity, the system can become out-of-compliance:

The following sections describe the actions you can take during the various phases of bringing the system back to compliance.

Grace Period

When the system becomes out of compliance, Manage will automatically notify users that the system is out of compliance via a banner at the top of the screen. An entry will be added to the system logs. This banner can be closed by the user.

The system will continue to operate normally, allowing users to configure, maintain, and support existing functions on the sensors in the network while the necessary software licenses are obtained and installed. Alternatively, users can decommission sensors or change BACnet and/or API system configurations to come back into Compliance.

Coming into Compliance

Out-of-compliance systems can be brought back into compliance in multiple ways, based on what caused the system to go out-of-compliance. It is your responsibility to ensure that your system is in compliance. Contact Enlighted Support for questions or to help identify what is needed to bring the system back into compliance.

  • Sensor Licenses – Decommission sensors or purchase and install additional sensor licenses until the number of commissioned sensors is equal to, or less than, the number of sensor licenses on the EM.
  • BACnet Base Licenses – Disable BACnet, decommission sensors, or purchase and install additional BACnet Base licenses until the number of commissioned Enlighted 5th Generation sensors is equal to or less than the number of BACnet Base licenses on the EM.
  • BACnet Group Point Licenses – Disable BACnet group points, delete areas, or purchase and install additional BACnet Group Point licenses until the quantity of Group Points enabled multiplied by the number of areas is equal to or less than the quantity of Group Point licenses installed on Manage.
  • BACnet Individual Point Licenses – Disable BACnet sensor points, decommission sensors, or purchase and install additional BACnet Sensor Point licenses until the quantity of Individual Point enabled multiplied by the quantity of Enlighted 5th Generation sensors is equal to or less than the number of Individual Point licenses installed on Manage.
  • Real-time Area Occupancy API Licenses – Reduce the number of areas enabled to act as a Zone Sensor (disable point on areas, or delete areas) or purchase and install additional Real-time Area Occupancy API Licenses until the number of areas with Zone Sensor option enabled is equal to or less than the number of active Real-time Area Occupancy licenses installed on Manage.
Note: This license type requires IoT sensor licenses, and APIs are subscription licenses that expire.
  • Real-time Desk Occupancy Licenses – Reduce the number of sensors configured as a 'Desk Sensor' by either assigning the sensors a different fixture type or decommissioning the desk sensors, or purchasing and installing additional Real-time Desk Occupancy licenses until the number of desk sensors on Manage is equal to or less than the number of active Real-time Desk Occupancy licenses installed on Manage.
Note: This license type requires IoT sensor licenses, and APIs are subscription licenses that expire.
  • Fine-Grain Motion Licenses – Reduce the number of sensors with the Fine-Grained Motion point enabled, or purchase and install additional Fine-Grain Motion Licenses until the number of enabled sensors is equal to or less than the number of active Fine-Grain Motion licenses installed on Manage by either disabling the point on the sensors or decommissioning the sensors.
Note: This license type requires IoT sensor licenses, and APIs are subscription licenses that expire.
