A scene configures light levels to make the space better suited for activities. For example, in a conference room, you may want to turn off the lights directly in front of the screen to show a presentation. The lights on the perimeter of the room may be off or barely lit, and the lights directly above the viewers set to a level bright enough to be able to take notes.
You can create new scenes to control light levels for a group of fixtures or have them go ON/OFF with the following two programmed scenes:
- All On – Sets the light level to 100% or to the current value of “Max Light Level when on” for fixtures controlled by the switch. See Understanding Profile Basic Attributes for Max Light Level when on.
- All Off – Sets the light level to 0% (off) for all fixtures controlled by the switch.
The two programmed scenes cannot be edited or deleted and thus are not listed in the scene list under the Scene tab. You can create additional scenes to set the light level individually for each fixture controlled by the switch. All fixtures controlled by a switch are affected when a scene is activated.
Creating a Scene
The steps to create a scene are:
- Click Facilities in the left navigation panel.
- Select a Floor. Note that a switch is created on the selected floor and cannot be moved to another floor.
- Click on Groups
- Click on sub-tab Switch to display the switch table.
- Click Create to create a new switch, or click Edit to edit an existing switch to add scenes.

- In the Edit Switch Group dialog box, click the Scene tab.
- Under the Scene tab, click Create Scene.

- In the Create Scene window, enter a Scene Name.
- Click OK. This should close the pop-up and create the scene.

- Select the new scene created from the scene drop-down list.

Setting Fixture Light Levels for a Scene
After the scene has been created, set the light level for each fixture controlled by the switch; this is best performed by being physically under the fixtures controlled by the switch.
- Select the scene in the scene name drop-down list.
- Select fixtures on the floor plan (or in the table) that most likely will have the same light level.
- Adjust the light level using the slider in the Light Level box. The light level for the selected fixtures is updated in the Light Level column of the fixture table.
-
Configuring Tunable White: For fixtures with sensor firmware version 5.4 or lower, skip this step if the Color Value window is not displayed. If the Color Value window shows up, read the Configuring Tunable White - Recommended Prerequisites to ensure that all prerequisites are met before tuning the fixtures for Tunable White.
- Adjust the Tunable White color value for the fixture by dragging the slider from a warm-white to cool-white temperature in the Color Value box. The color value is updated in the Color column of the fixture table. For non-tunable white sensors, the value for color temperature appears as NA. Refer to the article Adjusting the Color Temperature for a Sensor with Firmware Version Below 5.3.
- Continue selecting fixtures and light levels to set color values for the scene.
- Click the Apply button and wait for the fixtures to be updated.
- Click the Test Scene button and observe the lights to determine if the desired effect has been achieved until the Test Scene changes to End Test.
If not, then select fixtures and readjust their light levels, and start back at step 2.

If the desired effects change, you can later perform the above steps to readjust the fixtures' lighting. Note you can create a maximum of six scenes.
Changing the Order of Scenes
The order of the scenes in the scene name drop-down list is the same order that is displayed when you double-click a switch on the floor plan. This is also the order of the scenes on the ERCs for the switch when the ERC’s Cycle button is pressed. Use the
up and
down arrow buttons to change the scene order.

See ERC Switch Control for Light Fixtures with Tunable White for using the ERC switch to control lights and scenes programmed in Manage.
