By default, Enlighted sensors provide occupancy every five (5) minutes. More frequent real-time reporting of occupancy data can be enabled by enabling Zonal Sensors via Manage. For more information on how to enable zonal sensors and enable them to report area occupancy, refer to Enable Zonal Sensors to Report Area Occupancy.

When sensors in an area are enabled as a Zonal Sensors, the sensors will immediately update Enlighted Edge if an area becomes occupied. At the same time, if no motion has been observed for 90 seconds, the sensors will report that the area is unoccupied.  Licenses are not required for obtaining occupancy information when Enlighted Edge device is added to the lighting network.

Occupancy Data Reporting

When sensors in an area are enabled as a Zonal Sensor, one of the sensors, known as Area sensor, will immediately update Enlighted Edge if the area becomes occupied. At the same time, if no motion is observed for 90 seconds, the Area sensor will report that the area is vacant.

To use occupancy data for controlling HVAC or other assets, you can use the Area Datapoint “PscDet” for reporting the status of the area. This binary Datapoint has the following values:

  • 0 – Unoccupied
  • 1 – Occupied

The area occupancy operates as an OR function for all the sensors within the area. There is no delay-off configurable for the Datapoint, so any delay or switch-off needs to be handled in the business logic of the integrating system.
