Install Guide
View the files at the bottom of the page to download the Control Unit for DALI Drivers (CU-4D-FM) - Install Guide.
Overview
The Enlighted Fixture Mount Control Unit for DALI drivers interfaces with Enlighted sensors and a DALI LED driver to control light behavior intelligently. The Control Unit also contains a power metering chip that enables the Enlighted control network to measure power in real-time as well as energy consumption over time.
The DALI Fixture Mount Control Unit (CU-4D-FM) is approved for mounting inside and external to a luminaire. The DALI CU is rated Class II to be mounted in the ceiling without any additional enclosure, subject to local norms.
The DALI Fixture Mount Control Unit (CU-4D-FM) can be mounted inside NEMA rated fixture enclosure or as an external control device mounted outside of a fixture enclosure. Sheet metal screws are typically used to mount the Control Unit in these environments.

Installation
Supplemental Components
Items you will need:
- Two mounting screws, as appropriate for mounting the Control Unit to the inside of the luminaire
Caution
- A qualified electrician must perform installation and maintenance per state, local, and National Electrical Codes (NEC) and requirements.
- When mounting the DALI CU outside of the fixture enclosure, select the appropriate type of wires meeting local electric codes to complete the connections between the DALI CU (mounted external) and the driver inside the fixture enclosure.
Procedure
Step 1: Switch off the circuit breaker supplying power to the light fixture.
Step 2: Open the fixture cover and remove the cover for the driver cavity. The driver and its wiring should now be visible.
Step 3: Utilizing a voltmeter, verify that power is off to the driver. If power is present, stop work, identify, and switch off the circuit breaker.
Step 4: Place the Control Unit (CU) in the desired location either inside the fixture enclosure or external to the fixture, and secure it with mounting screws.
Step 5: Remove the connector covers from the control unit by loosening screws on the top of the unit.
Step 6: Disconnect the “Hot” wire (Line) of the driver from the power input wire.
Step 7: Connect the power input “Hot” wire (Line) to the Control Unit Wago L-IN (Line In) connector.
Step 8: Connect the driver power input “Hot” wire to the Control Unit Wago L-OUT (Line Out) connector.
Step 9: Connect the power input (Neutral) wire to either one of the two Wago AC-N (Neutral) connectors on the CU.
Step 10: Connect the driver (Neutral) wire to either one of the two Wago AC-N (Neutral) connectors on the CU.
Step 11: Bend wires into place such that you can easily reattach the driver cavity cover.
Step 12: Install the RJ45 sensor cable between the Control Unit and the Enlighted sensor. Do not use RJ12 cable as it will not be compatible with the CU. Refer to the corresponding Sensor Installation Guide for connecting the cable between the sensor and the Control Unit (CU).
Connecting the DALI Driver
The Control Unit (CU-4D) connects directly to the DALI driver via the DA+ and DA- connectors.
Step 1: Connect the DA+ terminal on the CU to the DA+ terminal on the DALI driver.
Step 2: Using 0.5 – 1.5 mm2 wire, connect the DA- terminal on the CU to the DA- terminal on the DALI driver.
Completing the Installation
Step 1: Reattach the connector covers removed earlier to the CU-4D.
Step 2: If the sensor is mounted outside of the luminaire, use a snap bushing in the knockout hole on the lighting fixture to route and protect the sensor cable. If the sensor is mounted within the luminaire, then bushing is not needed.
Step 3: Install the cover for the driver cavity and apply power to the newly wired lighting fixture.
Step 4: The lights should turn on to a full bright state and then cycle or dim, based on the sensor commissioning status or programming.
Note: The DALI driver must be configured for a linear dimming curve before installing it in the system.
