Overview
This article describes the cables needed to connect a Gen 4 sensor to the Control Unit (CU-3/CU-4). Select your cables based on the type of Gen 4 sensor.
Note: All Enlighted cables are plenum-rated as indicated by the CMP (Communications Multipurpose Plenum) and UL numbers indicated on the cable.
Gen 4 Sensor with Control Unit (CU-4E)
This section explains the different cables used for connecting the Control Unit (CU-4E) with the Gen 4 family of sensors.
Control Unit (CU-4E) applies to models: CU-4E-FMH, CU-4D-FM, CU-4E-NME/NMI. Refer to the CU-4 Spec Sheets for details.

NOTES:
- Adaptor Cable (CBL-CU4-CPL) is required for RMA replacements of CU-3E with CU-4E-FM or anytime a SU2/3/4 cable is used with a CU-4.
- Couplers with product codes CPL-RJ12 and CPL-RJ45 are identical parts that map to the same part number. Both are RJ45 female/female couplers.
- All Gen 4 Ruggedized sensors (xRx) have integrated 20" cable with RJ12 connector - note required cable extensions in the table.
Compact Sensor (SU-4E-01) with Control Unit (CU-4E)
The following cables are needed to connect the Control Unit (CU-4E-FMH) with the Compact Sensor (SU-4E).
- 30-inch sensor cable, (CBL-4E-RJ45-30N): 12-02504-02
For connecting the CU-4D-FM with the Compact sensor, you will need the following cable:
- 7-foot cable (CBL-4E-RJ45-7F):12-02503-01
For connecting the CU-4E-NMI and CU-4E-NME with the Compact sensor, you will need the following cable:
- 30-inch cable (CBL-3-30N): 12-00426-22
- 7-foot cable (CBL-3-7F): 12-00426-11
- 15-foot cable (CBL-3-15F): 12-00426-13
- 30-foot cable (CBL-3-30F): 12-00426-14
- 50-foot cable (CBL-3-50F): 12-00426-15, and
- Adaptor cable (CBL-CU4-CPL): 05-02372-01

To extend cable length, connect CPL-RJ45 (or standard CAT5e coupler) to RJ-45 end of the above cable, and connect standard RJ45-to-RJ45 straight-through cable of the desired length between CPL-RJ45 coupler and CU-4E. It can be purchased readily.
High Bay Sensor (SU-4S-H) with Control Unit (CU-4E)
The following cables are needed to connect the Control Unit (CU-4E-FMH/CU-4D-FM) with the High Bay Sensor (SU-4S-H).
- 7-foot cable (CBL-RJ12-RJ45-7F): 12-02637-01
For connecting the CU-4E-NMI and CU-4E-NME with the High Bay Sensor, you will need the following cable:
- 7-foot Sensor Cable (CBL-2-7F): 12-00028-12, and
- Adaptor cable (CBL-CU4-CPL): 05-02372-01

Standard RJ45-RJ45 patch cables of the desired length can be used instead of the above cable. However, please note that a short-body RJ45 connector is recommended at the sensor-end to allow for a shorter cable bend radius if the sensor is flush-mounted against a flat surface. The maximum cable length between an Enlighted sensor and control unit can be 300' CAT5E cables.
Ruggedized Sensor (SU-4S-xRx) with Control Unit (CU-4E)
The following cables are needed to connect the Control Unit (CU-4E-FMH) with the Ruggedized Sensor (SU-4S-xRx).
- 7-foot cable (CBL-RJ12-RJ45-7F): 12-02637-01, and
- Female RJ45 Coupler (CPL-RJ45): 27-00379-01
For connecting the CU-4D-FM with the Ruggedized Sensor, you will need the following cable:
- 7-foot Sensor Cable (CBL-2-7F): 12-00028-12, and
- Female RJ45 Coupler (CPL-RJ45): 27-00379-01, and
- Adaptor cable (CBL-CU4-CPL): 05-02372-01
For connecting the CU-4E-NMI and CU-4E-NME with the Ruggedized Sensor, you will need the following cable:
- Adaptor cable (CBL-CU4-CPL): 05-02372-01 with 6" adaptor cable and coupler

Standard RJ45-RJ45 patch cables of the desired length can be used in place of the above cable. However, please note that a short-body RJ45 connector is recommended at the sensor-end to allow for a shorter cable bend radius if the sensor is flush-mounted against a flat surface. The maximum cable length between an Enlighted sensor and control unit can be 300' CAT5E cables.
Gen 4 Sensor with Control Unit (CU-3E)
This table describes the cables needed to connect a Gen 4 Sensors to the Control Unit (CU-3E). Select your cables based on the type of Gen 4 sensor model and Control Unit.
Control Unit (CU-3E) applies to models: CU-3E-1R, CU-3E-EA.

Compact Sensor (SU-4E) with Control Unit (CU-3E)
The following cables are required to connect the Control Unit (CU-3E) with the Compact Sensor (SU-4E-01).
- 30-inch SU-3E Sensor Cable (CBL-3-30N):12-00426-22
- 7-foot SU-3E Sensor Cable (CBL-3-7F):12-00426-11
- 15-foot SU-3E Sensor Cable (CBL-3-15F):12-00426-13
- 30-foot SU-3E Sensor Cable (CBL-3-30F):12-00426-14
- 50-foot SU-3E Sensor Cable (CBL-3-50F):12-00426-15
The above-specified cables have an RJ12 that connects to the CU-3 and the other end has the 6-pin Molex that connects to the Compact sensor.
High Bay Sensor (SU-4S-H) with Control Unit (CU-3E)
The following cables are required to connect the Control Unit (CU-3E) with the High Bay Sensor (SU-4S-H)
- 7-foot Sensor cable, (CBL-2-7F): 12-00028-12
This cable has an RJ12 at both ends that connect to the CU-3 at one end and the High Bay sensor at the other end.
Ruggedized (SU-4S-xRx) Sensor with Control Unit (CU-3E)
The following cables are needed to connect the Control Unit (CU-3E) with the Ruggedized Sensor (SU-5E).
- 7-foot Sensor cable, (CBL-2-7F): 12-00028-12 with
RJ45 coupler, (CPL-RJ45): 27-00379-01
When connecting a Gen 4 Ruggedized sensor (SU-4x-xRx), the sensor cable ends with an RJ12 connector. To extend the cable length, use the coupler (CPL-RJ45) with the 7-foot cable (CBL-2-7F). The RJ45 end of the cable connects with the coupler and the RJ12 to the CU-3.
Enlighted Sensors with IoT Ready Profile 0 Drivers
This section lists the cables needed to connect the Enlighted Gen 4 Sensors with the IoT Ready Profile 0 Drivers.

To connect Profile 0 Drivers with the following sensors, you will need the cables as follows:
