Introduction

This release note details the SU-5 sensor firmware release v5.16.1, which adds features and fixes issues found with earlier firmware releases. This release supersedes previous releases for all SU-5 sensor models.
This release is designed to be compatible with Enlighted’s other products.

This information compares Microsensor (SU-5E) firmware release v5.16.1 to previous release v5.15.5.

New Features

This firmware release introduces the following new feature.

  • Cross-Gateway:  The Enlighted EDGE Gateway device can forward various group messages between any two groups on different subnets (defined by Gateway). This ability includes the case of one group defined across different subnets.  Both Motion groups and Switch groups supported.

Enhancements

  • Fixed ENOCEAN with redefined button map in flexible switch group scenes that did not cycle.

  • Fixed DALI data in NVM corruption problems caused by firmware 5.13.4

  • Fixed issue that allows ENOCEAN corner case to cycle scenes correctly.

  • Removed ABAF switch group message validation dependence on Tunable White fixture.

  • Fixed triple “payload” duplicate messages sent from Edge not filtered by sensor. Now sensor will filter duplicate SWITCHtoSU Message type (0x20) commands.

  • Enhanced Cross-Gateway message handling for EnOcean packets.

  • Fixed state returned and shown on GUI when in Validation Mode.

Sensor Startup Behavior

The table below summarizes the expected startup behavior for this release based on the sensor’s operating state.

Commissioned

Not Commissioned

On Power Cycle

Skip wiring test, skip 100% full on for 2 minutes, start normal operation

Wiring test runs first 5 power cycles

After wiring test completes the sensor sets fixture LED to 100% full on for 2 minutes.

After the 2-minute full on completes the sensor sets light level to default max and is ready for commissioning.

After first 5 cycles, wiring test is bypassed and the 2-minute full on is bypassed.

On Reboot command from Manage/EM

Skip wiring test, skip 100% full on for 2 minutes, start normal operation

NA

Sensor that is not commissioned will not accept command to reboot

On Initiate Driver Discovery Command from Manage/EM

Run driver discovery and wiring test, start normal operation. Note that 100% full on for 2 minutes will not run after wiring test completes.

NA

Sensor that is not commissioned will not accept command for driver discovery

Force Factory reset via reset cable
(only applicable for 8-wire SU or RM devices)

Clear fixture table information (if present).

(If the FMT was configured as fixtureless, after the reset via reset cable, the sensor will become fixtured.)
Initialize wiring test count.

Then perform same steps as described in power cycle for sensor that is not commissioned.

Delete Sensor from Manage/EM

Initialize wiring test count. Set LED indication to reflect last run wiring test result.

Note that upon next power cycle, the sensor will perform similarly to what was described for sensor that is not commissioned.

NA

Sensor that is not commissioned will not accept delete sensor command.

Sensor LED Status Summary

The table below summarizes the sensor status based on the LED behavior.

LED

Description

No LED

Commissioned sensor does not detect motion.

No LED for an un-commissioned sensor or a commissioned sensor with motion is an indication of a power issue or faulty sensor.

Solid Green

Un-commissioned sensor has powered up successfully and passed the wiring test.

Green Flash

Commissioned sensor has powered up and has detected motion.

Solid Red

Sensor fault – replace sensor.

Blinking Red

Un-commissioned sensor has powered up and detected a wiring test issue.

Solid Blue

Commissioned or un-commissioned sensor has received a request to identify itself.

Blinking Blue

Un-commissioned sensor was not able to detect an energy measurement device (Control Unit or Driver).

Interrupted Green

Un-commissioned fixtureless sensors

Blinking Magenta

During Emergency Test (Applicable for 2-wire sensors)

Supported Sensors

The following sensors are supported by this firmware release:

  • SU-5E

  • SU-5S-H

  • SU-5S-LRW/LRB

  • SU-5S-HRW/HRB

  • SU-5E-LR

  • SU-5i-USB

This includes all the -IL, -CL, -IoT, 8-wire, and 2-wire variants of these sensors.

NOTE: BOSS sensors are not supported in this build.

Supported Upgrade Paths

This version can be upgraded from any previously released Gen 5 Sensor firmware version.

Firmware Compatibility

The table below provides the supported releases, including the recommended device firmware versions to be used with this release.  The firmware will operate with any Manage 4.x version, but some functionality may be limited.

Device

Recommended Firmware Version

Manage Software

Gateway

  • 2.8.36 or higher

  • 2.8.32

Plug Load Controller

  • 2.9.6

ERC

  • 4.2.0

Older ERC versions are supported:

EnOcean

Switch firmware version is not applicable. Supports sensors with versions 5.12.x or higher and Manage software v4.1.x or higher.
