The Enlighted Edge Gateway consists of the Enlighted Edge Software hosted on the Siemens connect X300 Appliance.
The Enlighted Edge will enhance lighting control of both on-premise Manage or Manage in the Cloud (EMC) installations by enabling Cross Gateway communication. The Enlighted Edge offers an enhanced BACnet stack (software) with an improved data point hierarchy and naming convention nomenclature.
The Enlighted Edge facilitates low-latency (real-time) lighting control inputs from on-premises third-party systems such as via BACnet/IP for BMS integrations.

The primary value propositions for Enlighted Edge include:
-
Provide low latency (real-time) lighting control via third-party systems/products such as BMS integrations like the Siemens Desigo Total Room Automation system. When a switch is pressed on those systems, the Enlighted Edge will provide a change to the lighting in milliseconds.
-
Cross-Gateway communication will eliminate the requirement that Switch and Motion Group be programmed on the same gateway only.
-
Provide independence from the Manage Deployment model (refer to Network Topology Options). With the Enlighted Edge, whether Manage is hosted on an on-premise server or in the cloud does not matter. Services that are tied to a physical on-premise device (such as BACnet/IP) can be supported even on EMC installations. Conversely, applications that require cloud-based service (such as RTLS) with an on-premise Manage installation will be supported in future Enlighted Edge software releases.
The Enlighted Edge software will be pre-installed on Enlighted supplied X300 devices in North America (US & Canada only). Everywhere else, the Enlighted Edge software will be pre-installed on the X300 devices by the local Siemens RSS office providing the X300 appliance.
All Enlighted Edge software distribution is accomplished through the Siemens Cloud. Internet connectivity to the Siemens Cloud is required for updating the Enlighted Edge & BACnet/IP software on the X300.
