Article Details

When an Enlighted Edge Gateway is added to an existing Enlighted lighting system, the Cross-Gateway Switch Groups (Single Floor) and Cross-Gateway Motion Groups (Single Floor) feature allows communication between Gateways on the same floor.

The relay of sensor-to-sensor traffic between the Enlighted Gateways and Manage to Enlighted Edge for Cross-Gateway Groups is supported through the Gateway Firmware Configuration bundle. However, this traffic is not relayed automatically for Cross-Gateway Groups by default to avoid unnecessary increase in Enlighted Edge traffic.

If Cross-Gateway support is required, you can set the keyword=value configuration parameter must be set to RELAY_SENSOR=1. This parameter ensures relay of the sensor-to-sensor traffic needed for Cross-Gateway Groups. This parameter is stored in the /etc/en-cfg file on the Gateway.

In a future release, there will be a checkbox available in the Gateway Firmware Configuration Bundle page of the Edge UI, allowing you to easily Enable Cross-gateway Motion Groups. This will automate the RELAY_SENSOR=1 configuration parameter when downloading the Firmware Configuration Bundle to enable Cross-Gateways.

Prerequisites and Process

If you need assistance with the following process, we suggest that you contact Support .

RELAY_SENSOR support requires Gateway 3.6 firmware or higher.

  1. Download the following Relay_Sensor_On/OFF tar file to run the script for enabling or disabling the Keyword=value parameter.

  2. Upload the downloaded tar file to Manage. Refer to Upload Firmware File to Manage. The tar file name is displayed in the list of available firmware images after it is added to Manage.

  3. Follow the process described in the Manual Image Upgrade for Sensors, Gateways, and Plugloads to upgrade the Gateways with the tar image.

    • NOTE: This file will not update the firmware but will only change the firmware.

  4. If Manage shows the bundle as successfully transmitted, then the change should be effective.
