Viewing Building Visualizations
You can view visualization charts for floors in the building when you select the required building. To view building visualizations, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar. From the list of buildings, choose a building and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
You can view the following list of occupancy and utilization charts for each floor in the building.
Tool Bar: All floor map visualization charts provide a built-in ToolBar in the bottom right-hand corner of the chart. The Tool Bar offers controls to zoom in, zoom out, reset view, and rotate the floor chart as you would with any map.
Motion Animation
The Motion Animation allows the user to playback or step through the motion at five-second time intervals. This is useful for looking at motion events for short periods of time with high accuracy. Enlighted sensors can monitor where occupants are in a building at any time, providing essential information for determining intruder detection, disaster recovery, or business planning. You can plan the overall safety and security of a building and building occupants by visualizing movement within the building.
To run Motion Animation, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar. From the list of buildings, choose a building and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
- Choose a floor.
- Select Motion Animation.
- Select a date.
- After data is retrieved, click the Play button to view an animation of the sensors.
You can also specify the animation speed to be fast, normal, or slow. The histogram shows the amount of low or high activity across time and motion detection location for the day across the floor.
The Motion Animation display screen is shown below.

Heatmap
For Partners and Customers.
The Heatmap provides a color map to show the relative amount of activity on a floor based on occupancy. The visualization makes it easy to identify areas on the floor with the highest activity and areas on the floor that are not being used.
Heatmaps are generated by tracking occupants’ motion and activity in the area around each sensor. The sensors register activities such as moving hands while seated, waving hands, walking, or typing. The maps use different colors to represent different levels of activity. Darker shades such as orange or red indicate a greater amount of activity than lighter shades such as green or yellow. The maps provide a relative view of the data, not an absolute depiction of data.
To view Heatmap for a floor, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar, choose a building, and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
- Choose a floor.
- Select Heatmap.
- Select a start and end date. You can select a maximum range of 30 days in the calendar.
- Choose a day of the week from the drop-down list.
- Choose a start and end time.
- Click Apply.

Motion Trails
For Partners and Customers.
As smart sensors collect occupancy data in the spaces, proprietary motion tracking algorithms monitor the patterns of motion caused by people walking or staying still. Motion Trail considers data from neighboring sensors, unlike the Motion Animation or Heatmap visualizations derived from individual sensor data. The motion pattern from one sensor area to the next is used to generate local motion trail patterns. Darker shades such as orange or red indicate a greater number of individuals moving around those spaces than lighter shades such as green or yellow. The maps provide a relative view of the data, not an absolute depiction of data.
The color map shows a relative visualization of movement by people on a floor based on occupancy. The data is available every hour and can be viewed over time to identify trends. It may take up to five minutes for the application to obtain sensor data and generate the motion trail for the requested duration.
The data provides managers valuable insight into how spaces are used or not used. By identifying traffic patterns and creating motion trails, managers can track where employees arrive and leave and how they move through space. Retailers can use the motion trail information to track aisle traffic or how moving product affects traffic patterns.
To view Motion Trail on a floor, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar, choose a building, and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
- Choose a floor.
- Click Motion Trails.
- Select a start and end date. You can select a maximum range of 30 days in the calendar.
- Choose a day of the week from the drop-down list.
- Choose a start and end time.
- Click Apply.

Utilization Map
For Partners and Customers.
By viewing a Utilization Map, managers can determine when occupants are occupying spaces on the floor and to what degree the spaces are being utilized. If a conference room is rarely occupied, building managers can allocate the space for another use.
To view Utilization Map, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar, choose a building, and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
- Choose a floor.
- Click Utilization Map.
- Select a start and end date. You can select a maximum range of 30 days in the calendar.
- Choose a day of the week from the drop-down list.
- Choose a start and end time.
- Click Apply.
After data is returned, a colored view of the floor plan is displayed showing space utilization. Each space is marked with a distinctive color indicating utilization status for the specific duration. The thresholds determine how aggressive the application is when binning spaces by utilization. Clicking over a color-coded space displays the 24-hour time series utilization graph for that space.
Unoccupied spaces appear in gray, while occupied spaces are marked as low, medium, or high utilization colored red, yellow, or green respectively as listed below.
- Low Utilization (Red: 0%-33%) – Spaces are barely utilized.
- Medium Utilization (Yellow: 33%-66%) – Spaces are moderately utilized.
- High Utilization (Green: 66%-100%) – Spaces are extensively utilized.
You can change the above default range of values for utilization settings by clicking Display Options. Change the utilization settings by entering new values in the gray box or use the up and down arrows to change the values. Adjust the color opacity of the floor plan, sensors, and categories on the floor plan for better visibility by dragging the slider or entering a value for each item.
An example of the Utilization Map is shown below:
Hovering over a category shows data for that point in time with the following information for the given space.
- Category – Category name
- Department – Department name
- Utilization % (Overall) – Average utilization of this space
- Utilization % (Occupied) – Average utilization while the space is occupied
- Occupancy Percentage – Percentage of time that this space is occupied

Timeseries
For Partners and Customers.
The Timeseries shows a timeseries bar chart of occupancy data for multiple time windows. There will be a stacked view of the occupancy data for all space categories on the floor for configured floors. The chart helps to identify trends in the occupancy rates and space usage. You can see which space types need to be increased or decreased and report peak occupancy times for the specified duration.
The stacked spaces show how occupancy has changed over time, indicating when and how spaces are being used. Each space category is color-coded for easy reference, and the legend identifies the space categories on the floor.
To view timeseries, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar. From the list of buildings, choose a building, and select View Visualization in the Actions column.
- Choose a floor.
- Click Timeseries.
- Select a start and end date. You can select a maximum range of 90 days in the calendar.
- Choose a day of the week from the drop-down list.
- Choose an interval duration to observe Timeseries.
- Pick an occupancy data option. Three options are available to analyze occupancy.
- Occupancy Percent – Percentage of time each sensor is occupied on the floor.
- Sensor Occupied Minutes – Total number of minutes each sensor is occupied on the floor.
- Motion Events – Total number of motion events each sensor has detected.
- Click Apply.
Hovering over a bar in the graph shows data for that point in time for all color-coded space categories. The screen below is an example of the Timeseries chart.
