Emergency Lighting Solutions

Emergency lighting solutions exist for fixtures with either Control Units or IoT Ready Profile 0 Drivers. Specification Sheets for all supported devices are found at the bottom of this page. The following emergency lighting solutions are described here.

1. Emergency Lighting with Control Unit (CU-4E-FMH) 

There is NO Emergency version of the CU-4E, so a separate UL924 device is required in all Emergency Fixtures.

2. Emergency Lighting with IoT Ready Profile 0 Drivers

Profile 0 drivers are 0-10V analog dimming drivers with an auxiliary DC voltage output that powers the sensor directly.  No control unit is used with Profile 0 Drivers.

In the Emergency condition, the 0-10V dimming signal must be disconnected so the fixture will come on at full intensity.   This allows a different set of UL924 devices to be used.

3. Emergency Lighting with IoT Ready Profile 1 Drivers

Not supported. Use Control Unit or Profile 0 alternatives for Emergency Lighting. 

4. Emergency Lighting with DALI Drivers

Emergency lighting with DALI drivers is handled differently in North America (NA) vs other regions of the world.  In NA, a bypass switching device often referred to as a UL924 device, is used to disable or bypass the lighting controls.  In other regions, a special DALI device type, Device Type 1 (DT1), defined in part 202 of the DALI standard (EN62386-202) is typically used. Enlighted supports both approaches as detailed in the sections below.

Canadian Emergency Lighting

For Canadian installations where the mains voltage is frequently 347 VAC, the emergency lighting solutions available for these types of fixtures require either IoT Ready Profile 0 (Dim to off) Drivers or 0-10VDC Dimming Drivers with SR Bridge. 

Emergency Lighting with 347VAC IoT Ready Profile 0 Drivers

Profile 0 drivers are 0-10V analog dimming drivers with an auxiliary DC voltage output that powers the sensor directly.  No control unit is used with Profile 0 Drivers. In the Emergency condition, the 0-10V dimming wires connected to the UL924 device will allow the fixture to come on at full intensity.

0-10VDC Dimming Drivers use the Signify Sensor Ready (SR) Bridge to allow the Enlighted 2-wire sensor to control fixtures with 347VAC drivers. In the Emergency condition, the 0-10 dimming wires connected to the UL924 device will allow the fixture to come on at full intensity.

Canadian Wiring 347 VAC Solutions

For Canadian installations where the mains voltage is frequently 347 VAC, which is beyond the limits of the Enlighted Control Unit (CU-4E), Enlighted suggests the following 347 VAC drivers that are compatible with the 2-wire SU-5 sensors when used in conjunction with an XSR Bridge. 0-10V Profile 0 Dimming LED Drivers

The list of 0-10V drivers is available at different power levels from 20 to 95 watts to meet various luminaire size requirements. You can use multiple drivers with a single 2-wire sensor and the XSR-Bridge.

This solution with the XSR bridge is only for 2-wire sensors; the 2-wire sensor connects to the XSR bridge. See the line diagram SU-5 (2-wire) with XSR Bridge and (347v) 0-10v Driver (03066-02), which is the most preferred solution.  

An alternative method, when energy metering is not required, uses a 347 VAC Profile 0 driver with an 8-pin sensor and adapter cable. In this case, the sensor is powered from the Auxiliary DC supply of the driver. Refer to the following line diagrams:
