Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Emission

The Energy Consumption dashboard in Manage displays Energy Savings, Energy Usage, and its equivalent C02 Emission for the selected period. In the Energy Consumption Dashboard, you can monitor and measure Energy Usage by

The procedure for calculating CO2 emissions in the Manage application has been explained below. The CO2 emission formula varies by geography, so please refer to your country or region for specific details.

To view the CO2 emission values in the Energy Consumption Dashboard and calculate the CO2 emitted,

  1. Select a facility in the left panel and click the Energy Consumption tab. 
  2. Select CO2 from the dropdown to display CO2 emissions in the dashboard.

  1. Select the duration period. By default, CO2 emission is displayed for the last 24 hours.

Calculating C02 Emission in Pounds (lbs)

Use the following formula to calculate CO2 emission in pounds:

  • Energy Saved (KWh) x 0.00068956 x 2204.6

Since the formula uses energy saved in kWh, the first step is determining the Energy Consumption in kWh value.

  1. Select a facility in the left panel and click the Energy Consumption tab.
  2. Select the duration period.  
  3. Select Energy from the dropdown list.

The graph shows the energy consumed in kWh for the day and time. 

  1. Note the Consumption value that is displayed in the data. For example, on Sunday, at 12 am, the energy consumed is 315.2 kWh.
  2. Substituting the Consumption value in the formula:
    315.2 x 0.00068956 x 2204.6 = 479.16 pounds
    The C02 emission is approximately 479 pounds.

Go to the Energy Consumption and select CO2 from the dropdown list to verify the calculation.

The value of CO2 emitted for the duration is 479 lbs., as per the calculation.

Calculating CO2 Emission in Tons

Use the following formula to calculate CO2 emission in tons:

  • Energy Saved (KWh) x 0.00068956
  1. Select a facility in the left panel and click the Energy Consumption tab.
  2. Select the duration period.  
  3. Select Energy from the dropdown list. 
  4. Note the Period Consumption value that is displayed in the dashboard. For example, the energy consumed from Jan. 1, 2019, to Dec. 31, 2020, the energy consumed is 762 kWh.

Substituting the Consumption value in the formula:
776.2 * 0.00068956 = 0.535 tons.
The C02 emission is approximately 0.535 tons.

Go to the Energy Consumption dropdown and select CO2 from the list to verify the calculation.

Refer to the highlighted value in the following image. The value of CO2 emitted is 0.535 tons, as per the calculation.
