Utilization Map

For Partners and Customers.

By viewing a Utilization Map, managers can determine when occupants are occupying spaces on the floor and to what degree the spaces are being utilized. If a conference room is rarely occupied, building managers can allocate the space for another use.

To view Utilization Map, click the Buildings tab in the navigation bar, choose a building, and select View Visualization in the Actions column.

  1. Choose a floor.
  2. Click Utilization Map.
  3. Select a start and end date. You can select a maximum range of 30 days in the calendar.
  4. Choose a day of the week from the drop-down list.
  5. Choose a start and end time.
  6. Click Apply.

After data is returned, a colored view of the floor plan is displayed showing space utilization. Each space is marked with a distinctive color indicating utilization status for the specific duration. The thresholds determine how aggressive the application is when binning spaces by utilization. Clicking over a color-coded space displays the 24-hour time series utilization graph for that space.

Unoccupied spaces appear in gray, while occupied spaces are marked as low, medium, or high utilization colored red, yellow, or green respectively as listed below.

  • Low Utilization (Red: 0%-33%) – Spaces are barely utilized.
  • Medium Utilization (Yellow: 33%-66%) – Spaces are moderately utilized.
  • High Utilization (Green: 66%-100%) – Spaces are extensively utilized.

You can change the above default range of values for utilization settings by clicking Display Options. Change the utilization settings by entering new values in the gray box or use the up and down arrows to change the values. Adjust the color opacity of the floor plan, sensors, and categories on the floor plan for better visibility by dragging the slider or entering a value for each item.

An example of the Utilization Map is shown below:

Hovering over a category shows data for that point in time with the following information for the given space.

  • Category – Category name
  • Department – Department name
  • Utilization % (Overall) – Average utilization of this space
  • Utilization % (Occupied) – Average utilization while the space is occupied
  • Occupancy Percentage – Percentage of time that this space is occupied
