Overview
This article describes the steps for changing the battery in an Enlighted Room Control Switch.
When the red or green LEDs on the ERC do not flash when a button is pressed, it’s time to replace the battery. The ERC uses a standard CR2032 battery that is accessed after opening the case.
Depending on the ERC model number, refer to the corresponding section:
Replacing the Battery (WS-2-00)

Replacing the Battery (WS-2-00)
If the ERC is mounted on a wall or a junction box:
- Remove the cover face-plate.
- Using an appropriate screwdriver, remove the four mounting screws turning each one counterclockwise.
- Remove the switch compartment cover and gently pull the ERC switch from the mounting frame.
- Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the notch provided between the cover and backplate of the ERC.
- Applying light pressure on the back case, open the front side. Gently pull the front case away from the backplate. The battery is accessed after opening the case.
- Slide the old battery from its compartment using the flat head of the screwdriver. Be sure to dispose of used batteries in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Insert the new battery with the “+” or logo facing up (away from the circuit board).
- Replace the front case with the backplate.
- Using the four screws, re-mount the ERC into the compartment cover and snap on the cover face-plate.
Replacing the Battery (WS-1-00)
When the red or green LEDs on the ERC do not flash when a button is pressed, it’s time to replace the battery. The ERC uses a standard CR2025 battery that is accessed after opening the case.
If the ERC is mounted on a wall or a junction box:
- Remove the cover face-plate.
- Using an appropriate screwdriver, remove the mounting screws turning each one counterclockwise.
- Insert a flat-head screwdriver between the ERC and backplate frame.
- Applying light pressure on the back case, gently pull the ERC away from the backplate frame. The battery is accessed after removing it from the frame.
- Slide the old battery from its compartment using the flat head of the screwdriver. Be sure to dispose of used batteries in an environmentally friendly manner.
- Insert the new battery with the “+” or logo facing up (away from the circuit board).
- Slide and hook the bottom end of the ERC into the plastic frame, and push down on the top until the frame pops in.
- Using the screws, re-mount the ERC into the compartment cover and snap on the cover face-plate.
