Guidelines:
- Install the Plug Load Controller (PLC) in the Main Junction Box (J-box) of the outlets or loads it controls, and the PLC must be properly wired to the receptacle(s) or loads.
- For Open Office receptacle control, the PLC must be installed within wireless range of the Gateway, as well as any sensor of the Motion Group that they belong to.
- PLCs need to hear from only one sensor of the Motion group and do not need to hear from all sensors of the group.
- The controlling sensor should belong to the same Motion Group to which the PLC Gateway is assigned. Make sure the controlling sensor is placed near the electrical closet if that closet is where the PLC is installed.
- For floor outlets, the PLC must not be installed under a raised floor, as that floor will interfere with wireless communication.
- For Circuit level control, install the PLC in the electrical room, near the electrical panel for easy access and provide a Gateway in the room for wireless connectivity.
- PLCs are shipped with two labels with the MAC address printed. After the electrician installs the PLC, affix one label to the outlet faceplate and the other label in the blueprint floorplan marking the PLC location.
Overview
The Enlighted Plug Load Controller (PLC) transforms receptacles in 20A circuits to controlled and metered smart receptacles for energy-efficient and code-compliant plug load control. The device is paired with a sensor or a group of sensors in the network to enable occupancy-based control. The controller features two sets of wires to power separately controlled and uncontrolled outlets to measure energy consumption on both uncontrolled and controlled circuits separately.

Caution
Installation and maintenance must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with local, state, and national electrical codes (NEC) and requirements.
Junction Box Installation
Step 1: Punch out a ½ inch knock out in the J-box and insert the threaded end of the Plug Load Controller (PLC). Secure the PLC to the J-box with the provided locknut (See Figure 2).
Step 2: The Mains Wiring to the J-box shall be appropriately sized for the circuit with Blue, White, and Ground wiring present (See Figure 3).
Step 3: In the J-box, connect the PLC’s four12 AWG conductor leads to the Mains wiring and the receptacle wires that run from the j-box to the receptacle wall box (See Figure 4).
Step 4: Using wire nuts (or wire connectors):

Connect the Blue wire from the main feed to the Black wire of the Plug Load Controller (PLC).

Connect the White wire from the main feed to the White wire of the PLC and the White wire that feeds through to the receptacle.

Connect the Red wire of the PLC to the switched hot wire that feeds through to the receptacle.

Connect the Blue wire of the PLC to the hot wire that feeds through to the receptacle.

Connect all ground wires to the Grounding stud on the J-box.

Receptacle Installation
Step 5: Each outlet of the receptacle will be controlled separately (see Figure 4).
Step 6: Connect the White wire to the neutral connection on the receptacle.
Step 7: Connect the switched Red wire to the hot side of the “controlled outlet”.
Step 8: Connect the Blue wire to the hot connection of the “uncontrolled outlet” (always powered).
Step 9: Install the receptacle in the wall box.
Step 10: Attach a receptacle faceplate that distinguishes the controlled outlet.
Step 11: Attach the included MAC address sticker on the faceplate.
